The three founders have all lived and worked abroad. Like many other expatriates, they noticed how tiring and time-consuming it could be to gather all the necessary information before moving to another country and build up a network of social and professional contacts at their new location. This is how they came up with the idea to create a platform where people who were in the same situation could share their experiences and learn about the different countries and cities.
Whereas other expatriate networks are mostly locally driven and focus on a certain nationality or destination, InterNations operates on a global level and is present in almost 400 cities across the world. The platform is not only a way to connect with other expatriates and get information online, but members can actually meet each other face-to-face at local events and activities. Unlike other platforms, InterNations members are hand selected by a dedicated multicultural team in order to ensure the high quality of the network.
Approximately 100 employees representing more than 30 nationalities work at the InterNations headquarters in Munich. This office is responsible for the management of all of the InterNations Communities around the world from London and New York to Quito and Baghdad. Find out more about our different departments!
Very friendly people, feels like a family rather than a job
some leads do not even have any experience or expertise, not willingness to do anything. lack of transparency is also a big problem, as well as your career path (as there's nowhere to go)
the workload is evenly distributed however, you can't truly influence anything outside your team (sometimes not even there)
Not the most transparent management, communication top to bottom rarely happens
the team ia fairly young, however it's just as easy to work even with older colleagues
there is unfortunately no way to go up as the company prefers hiring external candidates instead of promoting their own so within 2 years you hit a wall
salaries are always paid on time and quite fair taking the Munich market into account. they have a pension plan in place and a great deal with a bank for their employees. however there are no bonuses or any other benefits.
the company tries really hard to improve everything from a technical perspective and is now even going into a full makeover. the only problem would be the temperatures in summer inside the offices
we try to recycle and reduce waste however we can
it generally has a good image. it's a startup and it's trying to also present a fresh product that can't be found anywhere else while also maintaining its focus on being local
the teamamd the general environment will be the best I will ever experience. everyone is welcoming and helpful, truly international and they all bring something new to the table due to their diverse experiences
it prefers hirinf external candidates instead of promoting and supporting its own employees. there are leads with no experience or expertise or willingness to change. feedback about a superior is not followed through.

Ich kann Entscheidungen nachvollziehen, wenn ich sie auch nicht immer genauso treffen würde. Ich werde geschätzt und meine Stimme zählt.
Ich finde den Zusammenhalt unter Kollegen sehr gut. Wir besprechen alles offen miteinander. Deshalb komme ich gern zur Arbeit, unser Team ist einfach toll.
Ich genieße es, mein Aufgabengebiet frei zu gestalten und es gibt immer wieder interessante Projekte und Initiativen, die aus dem Team kommen.
Wir bekommen Updates in den monatlichen Team Meetings und ich erhalte alle wichtigen Informationen (manchmal explizit auf Nachfrage, daher nicht volle Punktzahl).
Jeder der lernen will, kann hier etwas lernen. Eigeninitiative und proaktives Nutzen der angebotenen Möglichkeiten sind gefragt.
Das Büro könnte schöner sein und es wird daran gearbeitet, diese Situation zu verbessern.
Es herrscht eine gute Work-Life-Balance, in Stoßzeiten können schon mal Überstunden anfallen, und ich kann sie auch wieder abbauen.
Unser Team ist einfach super, wir begegnen uns respektvoll und wertschätzend und haben einfach Spaß miteinander. Unsere beiden Gründer engagieren sich mit Herzblut für ihre Firma und sind offen für Feedback und nehmen es ernst. Ein absolutes Highlight sind die jährlichen Team Trips.
Die Kommunikation könnte an manchen Stellen früher passieren, um Transparenz zu fördern.
