Was Mitarbeitende sagen

Was Mitarbeitende gut finden

The engineering culture has historically been excellent and is the strongest part of the company. In my 7 years, I experienced massive professional growth, moving from Engineer to Lead and touching every part of the stack (Backend, DevOps, Hardware). The company showed incredible resilience during COVID, retaining the entire engineering team when others were cutting back. If you are ambitious, performance-driven, and looking for a place where you can learn faster than at a standard corporate job, the opportunities here ...

- Challenging tasks
- A lot, and new technologies to work with
- Free to express your concerns and perplexities
- Meeting with your direct superior every time you need to
- Sprint retrospective every 2 weeks to talk about the company structure and workflow
- You can have a huge impact on the product
- Nice team, CTO, and environment
- Very little comfort zone (it pushes you to change your mind for the better)
- International team

The company has a strong product that I’m proud to work on, and the projects bring a good level of challenge and variety. Changes are handled in a way that keeps work interesting, and it’s motivating to know that feedback is actually heard. The work culture is approachable, and colleagues are open and cooperative, which makes it easier to solve problems and grow.

Was Mitarbeitende noch gut finden?

Was Mitarbeitende schlecht finden

Since the transition in technical leadership, the environment has become significantly more volatile. The structure is now very founder-led, which often results in micromanagement and sudden pivots rather than a clear strategic roadmap. While the engineering team is solid, there is a lack of formal frameworks for salary and career progression, making long-term growth difficult without constant negotiation. The business side sees high turnover, and the atmosphere can be tense if you aren't comfortable with a highly directive, top-down management ...

The salary and negotiation process leave much to be desired. Leadership, in my experience, undermined many of the positive aspects the company once had. The emerging culture feels dictated by the CEO’s preferences rather than the team’s. Core values like transparency seem one-sided, with limited openness from management. Team events reflect only the CEO’s tastes, and the overall atmosphere can feel heavy and factory-like. There’s a pervasive sense of mistrust and constant vigilance toward employees, accompanied by passive-aggressive remarks about ...

Not long ago the CEO threatened to "Go 100% on anyone calling me a micromanager" (whatever that means). But now he has partially accepted who he is, and going 100% no matter what you call or not call him. So if you are considering becoming part of the team, you better love each percent of this twisted working culture.

Verbesserungsvorschläge

The company has survived and thrived due to strong founder intuition, but to scale further, it needs structure.
1. Fill the technical leadership vacuum: promote a CTO/Technical Lead with the mandate to make autonomous decisions. The CEO cannot effectively manage both business and deep-tech execution simultaneously.
2. Professionalize HR/Compensation: Establish clear salary bands and career milestones so growth doesn't feel like a negotiation battle.
3. Reduce Micromanagement: Move from a 'command and control' style to a 'trust and verify' style ...

Build trust by empowering employees and honoring promises.
Stop micromanaging and allow professionals to do their jobs.
Improve working conditions—both physical and cultural.
Make HR a neutral and supportive resource for staff.
Address hygiene and equipment issues in the office.
Focus on genuine transparency and consistent leadership.
Bewertung lesen
It would be beneficial for the company to consider new ownership or leadership—someone more competent and sensible—who can guide it toward a healthier, more productive work environment.
Bewertung lesen
Of course, like any growing company, there’s always room to optimize processes here and there, but the willingness to listen and improve is definitely there.

Literally giving one star is generous.
The behavior of the CEO, who also acts as the founder, was one of the most difficult aspects of my experience at the company. His leadership style was marked by intense micromanagement, lack of communication, and emotional unpredictability. He expected to be involved in every decision—no matter how small—yet rarely had the time or clarity to provide proper guidance.
Tasks were often assigned with little or no briefing, and asking for clarification was seen ...

Leadership lacks direction, with no clear goals or long-term objectives. Decisions often follow fleeting trends or unrealistic targets, rather than sound strategic planning. Employees are completely excluded from the decision-making process, and any form of critical thinking is discouraged—often labeled as insubordination. There is an unspoken expectation to accept all decisions made by upper management without question or critique. Management will set up unrealistic expectations over your performance and impossible goals to achieve, and if those goals are reached, then ...

Constant urgencies, shifting priorities, zero peace. No matter how well things were apparently going, leadership treats everyone poorly, and for no good reason. Criticism, passive-aggressiveness (or straight up aggressiveness), public humiliation, and emotional reactions are the CEO's fuel. He shows no signs of empathy nor the slightest care for what people think or need, either professionally or personally.

Opportunities for career growth and professional development are virtually nonexistent. If you hope for advancement, be prepared to engage directly with the CEO and to be there overtime in the office or align closely with their overwork style. Even strong performance is unlikely to be met with proactive support for your development. Additionally, towards the end of one’s tenure, employees may be assigned tasks outside their usual responsibilities, which can feel discouraging.

There’s no clear path for career development. Training and learning opportunities are limited, and employees often stagnate unless they leave.
