I understand what my manager needs from me, and I can also rely on him to help resolve obstacles. Besides, the cross-team collaboration in engineering is excellent.
The office is nice, most colleagues as well.

Bitpanda has no flexible working hours. It is flexible for them, because in the end you have to be available and reachable until late at night and during holidays. Holidays are impossible to take because there are not enough colleagues who would jump in for you. It does not appear good if you leave work on time and dont work overhours (you do not get paid for them) - they do not respect that you want to have time for ...
Other than everything mentioned above, the treatment of their ex colleagues after laying them off. No support whatsoever through the whole off boarding process, missing payments for remaining vacation days. And after chasing the company for missing payments/information due to their failings, you’re ghosted, need to double text and get no transparency at all. Very untrustworthy behaviour.
Toxicity entertained by management with zero people skills and HR looking away.
Teams failing due to management changing their mind on daily basis and fighting with and against each other constantly instead of being one big happy family.
This fast-paced environment, with deadlines, can also lead to a heavy workload. Everyone has to decide for themselves whether they want that. Internal shares are also very virtual.

To HR: This company is so proud to be Austrian/European while forgoing any normal HR business practices that comes with that. HR is condescending, and speaks of the company like it's a cult. They want you to beleive the "mission" and be hyped and ready to "own your career" while not actually letting you rise in career. No salary bands, no clear path for careers...the yearly meetings about salary increases get ...

HR needs to step up and really care about the people working in this company or else it will be impossible to hire talent anymore. The whole city of Vienna knows about Bitpanda’s bad treatment of their workforce and people get scared off. Leadership needs to evaluate their leaderships skills.

Due to 2 mandatory office days in a week, as a department we do spend quite a bit of time together and get a chance to work closely with one another.
Me, as a more social person, I use the company events to meet more people and it has been great so far. This is fully based on personal preferences and you can adapt as you wish.
Many very talented people work at bitpanda, especially in the engineering department.
There were many nice people working there - culture was great. The only thing good about bitpanda actually.

Absolutely non-existent. Instransparent. Townhalls you see people start yelling or annoyed at questions/uncertainty. You get gaslit when asking about your career or told vague quotes about impact...but you never communicated WHAT that impact is and how to drive it. Feels like being inside madhouse.

One of the worst places I’ve seen. Decisions are made without informing anyone. People are being laid off without their team leads knowing, no exit interviews, no one cares about you.
Bitpanda is a progressive company full of modern approaches, however communication from top-down can be quite last minute and that sometimes does bring slight frustration.
What communication? They don’t know what that means.

"Own your impact" what does this mean? Nobody manages to get this slogan to life because it is empty gibberish. Because of this, you will be denied any change/career path because of lacking impact
